The Riverside Road project has been listed in the Town of East Fremantle’s Capital Works program for 2019/20 financial year.
Currently the project is in the design phase, with detail design and tender specifications to be finalised by the end of November 2019, for construction to commence in February / March 2020.
At this time, it is estimated the works will take 6-8 weeks and will start from East Street. The works will be undertaken between 7am and 5pm each day, Monday to Saturday, and will involve rolling partial closures as the civil work progresses.
The project intends to upgrade approximately 1.5 km of Riverside Road from East Street to near the Leeuwin No. 1 Carpark and proposes to:
- Stabilise and resurface the road pavement.
- Upgrade kerbing, plantings and the traffic management treatments along the route.
- Reclaim approximately 2,500m2 of riverside/foreshore land for use as public open space.
- Upgrade landscaping in select locations.
