Fremantle Traffic Bridge Project

Construction works are underway by Main Roads WA to replace the existing Fremantle Traffic Bridge. 

Closure of the bridge for up to 12 months will begin on Sunday 1 February 2026.

Traffic modelling shows that the closure of the bridge will have a severe impact on the road network with commuters likely to experience delays. As a result, some temporary network modifications are essential to keep traffic moving during the closure.

In addition, Main Roads WA has released a Live Traffic WA app to provide real-time travel updates during the closure. 

Open for business

Importantly, East Fremantle, North Fremantle and Fremantle will be open for business, and we encourage our community to continue to support local businesses wherever possible.
