Request Copies of Plans

Who can request copies of plans?

Property owners or an authorised representative may submit a Request Copies of Plans online application form. When completing the application form, the property owner must provide proof of identity, such as a driver's license, a passport, or current rates notice. 

Request for Copies of Plans

Plan searches will only be undertaken if the request form is signed by the property owner. Only the property owner is entitled to view or request copies of the Town's Plans.

The owner includes:

• The person shown on the Town’s records as being the owner
• A person who is authorised in writing by the owner

A real estate agent is not permitted to authorise copies of plans without written approval and proof of identity from the current property owner. 

Owners requesting copies of Strata Plans will be given plans for their own unit only. Should a copy of the entire complex be required, written authorisation from the Strata Manager or Body Corporate is required.  

Fees and Charges: 

The Town will contact the applicant to arrange payment of the non-refundable application fee of $170.50, which covers the administrative processing of the request. 

Additional Fees: 

Prior to a request for plans, the Town is unable to confirm whether any plans exist for a property. There is a possibility that plans may not be recoverable or may not exist for the requested property.  By submitting an application, you acknowledge and accept that the non-refundable fee may result in no useable plans being available. 

Where suitable and approved plans are located, the Town will contact the applicant to arrange payment of additional retrieval and scanning charges prior to releasing copies of the plan. 

These additional charges can vary between $30 and $500, depending on the size, volume, complexity and history of the property. 

By acknowledging the terms, you accept that secondary charges are required to be settled before copies of plans will be provided. 

Approved building plans only will be provided electronically. 

Refunds: 

The $170.50 search fee is non-refundable. 

Proof of identity: 

The legal property owner/applicant will need to supply proof of identity when submitting the request form. i.e. Driver's license, Passport or Rates form. 

Processing time: 

Please allow a minimum of 14 working days to retrieve the plans. In some cases, additional processing time may apply.
