Dog Exercise Areas

Our furry hounds are not only an extended member of our family they are also an important member of our community. 

While we love our precious pooches, it is important that we manage them so that they are safe and there are no adverse impacts. 

The Town asks that dog owners remember that their pets must be kept on a leash at all times in public (no longer than 2 metres), unless in a designated and sign posted dog exercise area. 

Dogs must also wear a current registration tag as well as a name tag/owners contact details in public. 

There are six dog exercise areas available in the Town where your dogs can run and play without a lead: 

• River Foreshore portion (beach areas only) as indicated by signs 
• Preston Point Reserve, Preston Point Road 
• Henry Jeffery Oval, Preston Point Road 
• Upper Wauhop Park, Wauhop Road 
• East Fremantle Community Park (dog exercise area only) 
• Silas Street Reserve, corner of George Street and Silas Street (currently closed) 

Further information 

Even though your dog may be off lead, the following will apply: 

• The dog must be supervised by a competent person who is in reasonable proximity of the dog.
• A lead must be carried and attached to the dog, should the dog need to be controlled. 
• Dogs are not permitted in the children's playgrounds unless sign posted.
