Town of East Fremantle is proud to announce that it has been re-endorsed as a Gold Waterwise Council for a third year.
The endorsement is a Water Corporation and Department of Water and Environmental Regulation initiative, which recognises the Town’s achievements in sustainable water management and our commitment to building a waterwise community over the past financial year.
The Town was first endorsed as a Waterwise Council in 2020 before being recognised as a Gold Waterwise Council in 2023.
To achieve gold accreditation the Town needed to meet several requirements including having a Water Corporation approved waterwise verge policy and verge guidelines, along with an established Water Management Team within the Town.
The Town’s actions to maintain its waterwise status include planting waterwise species and auditing water use across its assets to ensure consumption remains within the advised allocation.
The accreditation allows the Town to apply for additional funding for waterwise programs, including the Apace Plant Sale, which provides residents with access to affordable waterwise species.
This year, residents can purchase up to 40 native plants for $3 each from Apace Nursery from Thursday 1 May. This offer is valid once per household and while stocks last. Please bring proof of residential address and photo ID.
