Intermittent lane closures with a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h are required on the following roads in coming weeks. Works involve locating underground services in preparation for intersection modifications later this year.
Fremantle, North Fremantle and East Fremantle
From Sunday 15 June to Sunday 27 July 2025*
7pm to 6am
• Stirling Highway and Canning Highway
• Stirling Highway and Tydeman Road
• Stirling Highway and Alfred Road

• Intermittent lane closures on Stirling Highway (southbound) to reduce the width of the Stirling Highway concrete median.
• Speed reduced to 40km/h.
Stirling Street and Ord Street Intersection
Traffic changes and night works are required on the following roads to locate services before intersection modification works (temporary roundabout) commence later in the year.
Thursday 19 June to 3 July 2025
7pm to 6am
• Intermittent stop / slow traffic management on Ord Street southbound.
• Ord Street northbound will be closed.
• Road users will be detoured via Knutsford Street onto High Street.
• Intermittent path closures on Ord Street. Please follow traffic management in the area.
• Speed reduced to 40km/h.
Ongoing Traffic Changes
Queen Victoria Street and Canning Highway Intersection
• No right-turn from Canning Highway (heading west) onto Fremantle Traffic Bridge.
• Left turn slip lane closed from Fremantle Traffic Bridge onto Canning Highway (eastbound).
• One lane to turn both left and right from Fremantle Traffic Bridge onto Canning Highway at the traffic signals.
Reminder: RAV 1 heavy vehicles (container trucks) are prohibited from using the Fremantle Traffic Bridge. Light duty trucks may consider using alternative routes due to tight left turning radius onto Canning Highway.
Queen Victoria Street: Tydeman Road to Canning Highway
• One lane open in each direction.
• Speed reduced to 40km/h.
• Intermittent stop / slow traffic management during large deliveries and crane activity.
For the safety of road users (including pedestrians and cyclists) and workers, signed detours are in place. Road users will be notified of changes in advance and are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional travel time.
