On 14 July 2025, the State Government announced plans to establish 34 social homes on the corner of East Street and Canning Highway.

The development is planned to include 19 one-bedroom and 15 two-bedroom dwellings.

The project will be delivered by Foundation Housing WA with oversight and assistance from DevelopmentWA.
