Have you got a great water saving trick? This National Water Week, the Town is calling on residents to share their favourite tips for the chance to win a waterwise garden pack worth $100.
From Monday 19 to Sunday 25 October, East Freo residents are invited to share a favourite waterwise tip they use at home to go in the draw to win a rain gauge cylinder, spray gun set for garden hoses, and automatic digital tap timer.
During this time, residents can also collect a free ‘waterwise week’ pack featuring a shower timer, Town branded drink bottle and waterwise native plant seeds from the Town Hall reception, during business hours.
While waiting to collect the waterwise week pack, residents can explore the Town’s Water Week display, featuring waterwise tips and water conservation.
Mayor Tony Natale said during National Water Week, the Town would focus on simple ways everyone can save water.
“As a Gold Waterwise Council, the Town is committed to achieving best practice water efficiency within our operations, and throughout our community,” he said.
As part of the Town’s Climate Emergency Action Plan 2023–2033, the Town is committed to supporting the community with incentives and education to reduce water consumption, including education about water conservation and waterwise gardening.
“National Water Week is a great opportunity to remind ourselves that small changes can make a big difference,” added Mayor Natale.
“By sharing simple waterwise ideas, we are encouraging our community to conserve a precious resource and support the Town’s strategic vision for a more sustainable and waterwise East Fremantle.”

The Town was first endorsed as a Waterwise Council in 2020. Since 2023, the Town has been recognised as a Gold Waterwise Council.
The Waterwise Council Program, a joint initiative of the Water Corporation and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, recognises Councils in Western Australia for their leadership in saving water and building waterwise communities.
To achieve gold accreditation, endorsed Waterwise Councils must meet several requirements including holding a Water Corporation approved waterwise verge policy and verge guidelines and an established Water Management Team within the council.
