Council’s commitment to responsible financial management, essential service delivery and investment in facilities is at the heart of the Town of East Fremantle’s 2026/27 Budget.
The $20.06 million operating budget, including income from the East Fremantle Community Park, was adopted at a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday 23 June.
The budget incorporates a 5.87 per cent increase in rate revenue, which equates to approximately and additional $3 per week for the average residential property.
Mayor Tony Natale said the budget reflected Council’s commitment to balancing the Town’s current needs with the long-term financial sustainability of the Town.
“In setting this budget, Council has balanced the challenges of the current economic environment,” he said.
“These include increasing operating costs and asset maintenance needs while ensuring we continue to deliver the high-quality services our community relies on.
This year’s budget focuses on maintaining and renewing our assets while delivering strategic improvements that meet the needs of current and future generations.
“The budget will also see investment in maintaining and improving roads, footpaths, drainage, parks, public open space and community facilities,” Mayor Natale added.
“It also incorporates a $4 million investment in capital works and river infrastructure including maintenance of the riverwall at Wayman Reserve (subject to external funding) and renewing roads and footpaths along Riverside Road.
The Town’s new Council Plan 2026 to 2031 was also adopted this week. It provides an integrated roadmap for the Town to follow over the next 10 years, with 77 priority projects identified for the next four years.
Mayor Natale said the budget would put the priority projects earmarked for the first year of the Council Plan into motion.
“The budget is where the Council Plan becomes reality, funding the priorities and commitments we’re focused on delivering in the year ahead,” he added.
