Ratepayers from the Town of East Fremantle are invited to comment on proposed differential rates for the 2025-26 financial year.
The comment period will begin on Thursday 22 May.
Deputy Mayor Tony Natale said difficult economic conditions were impacting budgets for householders, and many industries, including local government.
“Funding from rates pays for infrastructure such as parks and roads as well as key services and projects to support our community,” he said.
“Unfortunately, budgetary pressures – as evident from the Local Government Cost Index – are creating challenges for the Town.
“We are committed to delivering a balanced budget for 2025/26 and focussed on identifying efficiencies year-on-year, while keeping costs as low as possible.”
The Town is proposing an average rate increase of 4.95 per cent. This would equate to around $2.44 a week for the average residential property, or $127 a year.
