In October 2025, the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) advised the Town that the operations of East Fremantle Community Park, which is being managed by an external party (Belgravia Leisure), needed to be independently audited under auditing instructions issued by the OAG.
As such, there was a delay in finalising the external audit arrangements for East Fremantle Community Park.
While the Town has worked with the OAG to implement the required audit arrangements, unfortunately this delay impacted the Town’s audit timelines with the OAG. Consequently, the Town was unable to finalise its Annual Report by 31 December 2025.
To the best of the Town’s knowledge, this is the first time the Town has been unable to meet the mandated deadline for an Annual Report.
The OAG has advised the Town that the audit sign-off has been deferred until at least March. The Town has communicated the revised sign-off timing to the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety.
The dates for the Annual Report to be received by Council, and for the Annual Electors Meeting, will be published in due course.
