More than $15,000 will flow into East Fremantle community and sporting groups this financial year, as part of the Town’s 2026-27 Community Assistance Grants Program.
The grant funding will allow 10 local organisations to deliver projects that will have a positive impact on residents and enhance the social, cultural and recreational fabric of the Town.
Mayor Tony Natale said Council was pleased to award $15,705 in grant funding to groups who strive to make a positive impact within the Town.
“We thank all of the Clubs and sporting groups who took the time to apply for a Community Assistance Grant this year,” he said.
“Congratulations to the recipients. These grants are integral to supporting local organisations to deliver vital activities across East Fremantle. We look forward to seeing the projects come to life.”
Fremantle Rowing Club received the largest amount, with $2,104 awarded for four men’s sweep oars and six seat toppers for women rowers.
Secretary of the Fremantle Rowing Club, Michaela Maine, said the Club was grateful for the Town’s support.
“The grant funding will help us to improve our equipment,” she said.
“Having quality equipment ensures we can support the needs and aspirations of our members, ranging from beginners to our national representatives.”
The Fremantle City Football Club received $2,640 towards the design and installation of a custom-built trophy and memorabilia cabinet at Tricolore Community Centre.
Since 2016, the Town has awarded $112,103 in Community Assistance Grants.
2026-27 Community Assistance Grants recipients
- Cockburn Blades Dragon Boat Club - $975.90 for a training safety package
- East Fremantle Bowling Club - $1,000 for a laser measure
- East Fremantle Football Club - $1,650 for a column signage project
- East Fremantle Lacrosse Club - $1,650 for gloves, helmets and balls
- East Fremantle Lawn Tennis Club - $1,650 for materials to build a bespoke storage shed
- East Fremantle Lions Club - $636 – to purchase a gazebo, folding table and tablecloths
- Fremantle City Football Club - $2,640 for a custom-built trophy cabinet
- Fremantle Rowing Club - $2,104.07 for men’s sweep oars and six seat toppers for women rowers
- Fremantle Sea Scouts - $1,650 for banners, microwave, whiteboard and signage
- Richmond Primary School P & C - $1,650 for an interactive whiteboard for the school library.
