Updated 15 May 2025: You may have noticed that this week, Main Roads has installed temporary fencing around the park.
In February, bonded asbestos was identified in the Silas Street Dog Park.
While this find presented a low risk to park users, the Town took precautions and chose to close the park until further investigations were undertaken and remediation options considered.
The surrounding gates were locked and signage placed at the park’s main entry points advising park users of the closure. The public was also notified via the Town’s communication’s channels.
Since this time, the Town has continued to liaise with the landowner, Main Roads, regarding remediation. At this stage, we are unsure when the area will be reopened to the public.
We thank you for your continued patience and understanding whilst the park is closed.
If you have any queries, please contact the Town’s Environmental Health Officer on 9339 9339 or via email admin@eastfremantle.wa.gov.au.
