Town of East Fremantle is one step closer to a more sustainable future, following the award of a tender for the design, supply and installation of solar panels and battery infrastructure at four key Council buildings.
Over the next 12 months, rooftop solar panels will be installed at the East Fremantle Community Park, the Town Hall, Dovenby House, and the Operations Depot.
Battery systems will also be installed at the East Fremantle Community Park, the Town Hall, and Operations Depot, supporting on site energy use and reducing reliance on grid supplied electricity.
Town of East Fremantle Mayor Tony Natale said the installation of solar panels on key buildings demonstrated the Town’s commitment to a more sustainable future for our community.
“This is a key action of our Climate Emergency Management Plan 2023 to 2030,” he said.
“The solar panels will allow the Town to lower its operational emissions, reliance on grid-source energy and demonstrate leadership in sustainable asset management.”
The $796,000 project will be funded by a Community Energy Upgrade Fund grant from the Federal Government, and the Town’s Sustainability and Environmental Reserve.
