Statement from the Town regarding sale of Leeuwin Barracks

Attributable to Town of East Fremantle Mayor Tony Natale:

"Leeuwin Barracks has been identified as surplus to the Federal Government’s Defence needs for some time, and the Town has known that the site would eventually be redeveloped.

We believe we have an important role to play in shaping how the site is planned and developed. Our focus is now on protecting the site’s heritage, its relationship to the river, and community access."
