Cr Maywood sworn in as Town’s new Deputy Mayor

Town of East Fremantle has welcomed Councillor Lucinda Maywood as its new Deputy Mayor at a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday 28 October.

Councillor Maywood was officially sworn in following a Council vote, where she nominated for the position along with Councillor Cliff Collinson and Councillor Jenny Harrington.

Councillor Maywood has served on Council since 2023, when she nominated as a 22-year-old, making her the Town’s second youngest Deputy Mayor.

Councillor Maywood said she would offer an intergenerational approach to the leadership role which reflected East Fremantle’s demographic.

“I see a real opportunity in front of us,” she said. “This includes lots of upcoming, exciting projects to work on, the relationships we have with residents, and exploring new ways to reach out to community.”

Mayor Tony Natale extended his heartfelt congratulations to Councillor Maywood.

“Councillor Maywood brings a fresh perspective and unwavering commitment to the role,” he said.

 “I’m confident she will be a tremendous asset to our leadership team. We look forward to the positive contributions she will make and the journey we’ll embark on together.”

 Cr Maywood’s term as Deputy Mayor will run until October 2027.
