Welcome to our Newest Australians

On Thursday 25 January, 2017 the Town of East Fremantle welcomed six new Australians to the Town.

In a sunset ceremony in the gardens at Dovenby House, family and friends witnessed six people, the youngest only 2 years of age, making a Pledge of Commitment to become Australian Citizens.

Deputy Mayor Cr. Michael McPhail presided over the ceremony and acknowledged the importance and significance of becoming an Australian Citizen.

"This ceremony is an Act of Law and participants undertake a new allegiance and a new responsibility. You take on a new status in Australia and wherever you may travel in the world.  It is a status of which you may be proud, a status of a nation which is vigorous, independent and free", said Cr McPhail.

Guests were invited to partake in an 'aussie barbecue' following the ceremony.
