Town of East Fremantle residents and their furry friends are now able to enjoy the new Dog Exercise Area at the East Fremantle Community Park following Council’s endorsement at its meeting on Tuesday 16 July.

Boasting 4000 sqm of grass, the area which can be accessed off Allen Street, offers a safe, fun and spacious environment for dogs of all sizes and breeds to run, play and socialise, along with two bench seats, a bin for pet litter and drinking fountain.

Deputy Mayor Tony Natale said the area was designed to meet the needs of our community and their beloved dogs.

“We anticipate it will be well utilised by the public and generate significant interest, fostering a sense of community and providing a dedicated space for dogs to exercise and socialise in the Town,” he said.

The opening follows community consultation in June. The Town received over 30 submissions as part of the consultation, with most of the respondents positive in anticipation of the opening.

Cr Natale thanked the community for their feedback.

“It’s heartening to hear how many community members are excited about this wonderful space,” he said.

“I look forward to seeing community members come together and use the space as a social hub. Visitors can also enjoy the surrounding amenities of the exercise area while connecting with their neighbours.”

Residents are encouraged to use the area responsibly, ensuring all dogs remain under their owner’s full control at all times. Owners are required to carry a leash to promptly manage their dogs as needed.

There are six dog exercise areas in the Town of East Fremantle including Preston Point Reserve, Henry Jeffery Oval, Upper Wauhop Park, East Fremantle Community Park, the Reserve on the corner of Geroge Street and Silas Street and dedicated beach areas along the river foreshore.
