The numbers are in and the Town has again broken waste records at the George Street Festival.

With impressive crowds again at this year's George Street Festival, we're thrilled to share that just under 40kg of waste was sent to landfill, with 210kg of waste produced across all waste streams over the 7 hour duration of the event.

Of the 123kg of Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) waste, there was only 800 grams of contamination. Yes 800 grams!

Of the 46kg of recycling, there was only 1.6kg of contamination, with a total rate of contamination of only 1.5% across all waste streams.

545 beverage containers were processed at the City of Fremantle's Containers for Change site, with all funds donated to the Hurricane Paddling Crew who provided amazing support as "bin monitors" on the day.

Special acknowledgement to GO2CUP for providing 22,000 reusable plates, bowls, cutlery and cups to all food and beverage vendors. These 22,000 reusable items allowed us to cut out unnecessary packaging waste. Also a huge shout out to the food and beverage vendors and local businesses for their support in our fight against packaging waste.
