This functional public art project was facilitated and funded by the Town of East Fremantle.
The project objective was “to install permanent public artwork that serves a functional, community safety, purpose and develops a sense of place through story-telling”. The project, including extensive research, was undertaken over sixteen months culminating in installation on 2nd and 3rd July 2020.

“Richmond Raceway, horse and harness racing (trotting) track, was established in 1928 and ran until it closed in 1991, whereupon the area became a housing estate. Turnstiles, within pockets of public open space, were retained as a reminder of sixty-three years of harness racing in the area. Marjorie Green Park, on the corner of Silas & Bay Patch Streets was named to commemorate the Town of East Fremantle’s first female Councillor (1974 to 1985). George Booth Park, on the corner of George & Moss Streets, was named after the 1943-1958 President of the Committee of the Fremantle Harness Racing Club.”
