Glyde In is a community based a cappella choir drawn from one of the most active and community empowered learning centres in Metropolitan Perth. This connection has followed through into often strong passions about community and caring, social and environmental action, and much of this is woven into and through their repertoire.
A joyously enthusiastic group of a cappella community singers from the much valued Glyde In Community learning centre, with a wide range of musical styles and a beautiful sound. Being capable of being intensely serious about some subjects, we enjoy both a good sing and a social chat over a cup of tea.
The repertoire over the years has touched pretty much any genre, and many composers; Byrd’s Ave Verum Corpus to Sinéad O’Connor, Beethoven to Jazzed up Beatles, African partsong, Rennaissance, pop, Early Music, Eastern European music, songs from many of the Pacific Islands, and much more.
And all of it a cappella!
There are no auditions, as we believe that everyone can sing and we provide a chance to learn what you need to; we accept all comers, meeting on Tuesdays from 4 to 6 pm (except 1st week of school terms) at the Glyde In Learning Centre (42 Glyde St East Fremantle)
